Job Summary

McPherson Elementary School has a part-time .50 FTE temporary position available. This is for the 2024-2025 school year

Requirements / Qualifications

Applicant needs to have a thorough understanding of how children develop literacy and numeracy skills and be able to develop standards based lessons without relying on textbook publishers. Applicant should be well versed in Project Based learning. Teacher should be proficient with PBIS and Restorative Practices in order to create the most dynamic, collaborative learning environment possible. Teacher must be able to provide evidence of their ability to build classroom cultures of students who are connected, engaged and challenged throughout each and every day. Applicant must provide references that speak of his/her ability to work as a viable member of a PLC. This teacher needs to produce evidence that shows how instruction and learning is enhanced through the use of a variety of technologies. Teacher applicants must have the willingness to reach out and bring in both families and community members to serve as experts, sit on panels and provide feedback to students as they present projects. As we are a STEM school, applicant must demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of Next Gen Science Standards and speak to the integration of CCSS within any science or engineering based PBL unit. McPherson realizes it is a big ask for an applicant to have all that is listed above. The single most important attribute we are looking for is a willingness to learn. We want an applicant who is passionate about student learning and believes we must "do" education differently. Candidates must hold an English Learner Authorization (ELA) or be eligible for an Emergency ELA permit while working on earning an ELA.
